Red Bud Regional Care Rehabilitation and Senior Living suspends in-person visitation until further notice.
As Gov. J.B. Pritzker announced on Monday, "every region of the state has started to move in the wrong direction" with rising COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations.
Following the Illinois Health Department of Public Health's guidance and in an effort to protect patients, staff, and community, we have suspended in-person visitation at Red Bud Regional Care Rehabilitation and Senior Living until further notice. We will reevaluate our visitation policy every two weeks.
Sadly, for the first time since the pandemic began, 22 residents and 12 employees have tested positive for the coronavirus. We have established separate care areas to quarantine positive COVID-19 residents. Residents who have tested negative are also being quarantined as an additional safety measure. Along with around-the-clock monitoring, we perform routine, twice-weekly COVID-19 testing on all residents and staff. This practice will continue until we reach zero positive tests for two weeks. We continue to have adequate supplies of PPE to safely care for COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 residents.
The number of positive cases in Red Bud Regional Hospital remains low at approximately two patients daily. Please note that the number of hospitalized patients can fluctuate daily.
"As tough as it is, suspending in-person visitation is necessary at this point to protect patients and staff from the nature of this contagious virus," said Shane Watson, CEO of Red Bud Regional Hospital. "Our staff continues to lift residents' spirits by facilitating visits through windows and planning in-room activities with individual residents. We thank the local community for the support and care they have shown to our residents and staff during this time.
The reality is that COVID-19 continues to challenge our community and so many others across the country. We will continue to take necessary precautions as ongoing cases fluctuate and surges occur. We echo the concerns of our governor and urge community members to remain diligent in adhering to safety measures to stop the spread.”
